MORE INFORMATION
Mooleh Manay is a 68-acre family-run estate in Nakoor Village, North Coorg, set on the backwaters of the Harangi Reservoir at around 1,000 metres. The land has been in the Gundugutti family since the early 1800s and was carved out from the larger Kanbile estate in 2013. Today it is run by Akshay Dashrath and Komal Sable, who live on the farm. The estate grows three coffee species, Arabica, Robusta and Excelsa, under a shade canopy of silver oak, rosewood and native trees like Ficus, Honge and Honne, with pepper, citrus and fruit trees mixed in. The farm is kept free of weedicide, fungicide and pesticide, and elephants pass through regularly. Processing leans on naturals and honeys to save water, and a network of on-farm sensors tracks temperature, humidity and soil conditions to guide the decisions made through the season.
A forested, spice-intercropped Western Ghats coffee landscape where red lateritic soils, humid shade, and warm slopes make Coorg one of India's defining Robusta origins, with Arabica in cooler pockets.
